Rpw is the Polish category for medicines with narcotic or psychotropic substances. Sources: URPL, product information for Tentin, GdziePoLek.
Lisdexamfetamine (Elvanse) is in Polish pharmacies on prescription. On 4 June 2025 the medicines regulator URPL moved it to the Rpw category, the same strict category as other stimulants. Generic versions are registered too (Eldefab, Lysmi, Lisdexamfetamine Aristo), but in October 2026 none of them were in stock anywhere in Poland.
Methylphenidate is sold as long-acting Concerta and Medikinet CR and as shorter-acting Medikinet. Atomoxetine is a non-stimulant on a normal prescription. It works more slowly and is an option when stimulants do not suit you.
Dexamfetamine (Tentin) is now in Polish pharmacies, but its approval covers only children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 whose response to methylphenidate was not good enough. The patient leaflet says it is not used to treat ADHD in adults.
How many pharmacies have it in stock

Green: Elvanse, for adults. Blue: Tentin, licensed for ages 6–17. Stock changes daily, so call the pharmacy before you go.
What about Adderall
Adderall is not registered in Poland, so pharmacies cannot sell it. The only legal route is targeted import (import docelowy), a Ministry of Health procedure a doctor starts for one named patient. In 2024 the health technology agency AOTMiT estimated that this concerns several to a dozen or so patients, and it recommended against reimbursing Adderall XR. For most adults the realistic options are Elvanse or methylphenidate.
How to get a prescription
The prescription comes from a doctor, in practice a psychiatrist. You do not need a referral for a private visit.
- Bring your documentsYour diagnosis, previous prescriptions with name and dose, and a letter from your previous doctor if you have one. Translations help but are not always required.
- See a psychiatrist, in person or onlineBefore prescribing a stimulant the doctor checks your prescription history in the national system. If your last examination was more than 3 months ago, you need a new one, and it can be a video consultation. Stricter in-person rules introduced in November 2024 cover strong painkillers and medical cannabis, not ADHD medication.
- Collect within 30 daysStimulant prescriptions are electronic only, cannot be post-dated and expire 30 days after they are issued. One prescription can cover up to 90 days of treatment. Check that the pharmacy has your strength first.
What it costs
In October 2026 Elvanse 30 capsules started at 289.99 zł (30 mg), 295.99 zł (50 mg) and 296.99 zł (70 mg). Prices differ a lot between pharmacies: in Warsaw the 50 mg pack ranged from about 296 to 450 zł. Tentin starts at about 115 zł (5 mg) and 220 zł (10 mg).
Reimbursement covers methylphenidate and atomoxetine only for children over 6 and adolescents, as part of a wider treatment plan. In June 2025 the Ministry of Health said it was not working on reimbursement for adults and had received no applications from manufacturers. So adults pay the full price.
Bringing medication from abroad
Poland is in the Schengen Area. If you travel with stimulants from another Schengen country, carry a Schengen certificate (Article 75 of the Schengen Convention) issued or confirmed by the authority in your country of residence. It is valid for up to 30 days and you need one per medicine. Travellers from outside Schengen should carry a certificate from the competent authority of their home country, plus the prescription. Keep the medication in its original packaging in your hand luggage.
A certificate covers a trip. If you live in Poland, you need a Polish prescription.
If you were diagnosed abroad
A Polish psychiatrist will want to see your records and may reassess before prescribing a stimulant. That is normal and not a sign your diagnosis is doubted. Our guide to ADHD diagnosis in Poland explains how a full assessment works.

Frequently asked questions
Is Adderall available in Poland?
No. It is not registered, so pharmacies do not sell it. A doctor can apply for targeted import for one patient, but this is rare. Most adults are treated with Elvanse or methylphenidate.
Can I get Elvanse in Poland?
Yes, on an electronic prescription from a doctor. Since June 2025 it is in the strict Rpw category, and not every strength is in stock, so check before you go.
Is ADHD medication reimbursed for adults?
No. Reimbursement covers children over 6 and adolescents only, so adults pay the full price.
Can I get an ADHD prescription after an online visit?
Yes. The examination can be a video consultation. ADHD medication is not on the list of drugs that require an in-person visit.
Can I bring my ADHD medication to Poland?
For a trip, yes, with a certificate from your home country (the Schengen certificate inside Schengen), valid for up to 30 days. If you live here, you need a Polish prescription.
Can a psychologist prescribe ADHD medication?
No. Only a doctor can.
